Design Company Naming Machine

Inspired by the ludicrous number of design studios using coloured animals as company names I’ve created the incredible fantabulous breadline design company naming machine. Follow the link and cast aside your tired and boring corporate name of yesteryear, embracing quirky naming wonderfullness! Huzzah!

HaHa, great idea!! We’ve had numerous threads on the forums about design company names, wish I’d thought of this first, it has great viral potential :)

    Thanks,
    Greg

Awesome! We’ve joked about this same subject for a very long time.

A favourite of mine is “Burning Dog Media”, whose logo is, you guessed it, a dog on fire.

Thanks for yet another resource that consumes 15 minutes of my day.. But really, awesome work on this.

Fantastic! Had a lot of fun watching this.
“Evil Zebra Media” is the perfect name for my own design studio.
    Congratulations! So much fun!

Great work - I applaud your mockery of ridiculous colour/animal/object agency names. Having said that I’m off to register ‘Evil Moose Labs’ (unless someone has beaten me to it!).

    Awesome site. Very funny

Ha ha, wow! You know people are going to legitimately use this to name their firms. Whether it be actual people in the industry tongue-in-cheek or some web-clueless CEO using the easy way out! ;-)

    Genius. Loved it. :)

absolutely hilarious…so what if i’m just sitting here clicking design name after design name for 10 min instead of working. time well spent lol. Makes me feel like looking up the random names and seeing how many exist hehehe

Nicely done. Though, if it’s not there already, I think you need to add “project” to the final bin.

  13. Gareth February 6th, 2009 10:12 am

Damn it! Now people will know how we found our company name.

  14. Kimby February 6th, 2009 11:18 am

Ahahaha… excellent! I can see the brightly coloured and vaguely offbeat logos flashing before my eyes with every roll!

  15. Barry February 6th, 2009 7:59 pm

    Red Ant Productions… awesome!

Great stuff and just as relevant for experiential and live marketing agencies.

Any objection to me linking to it from our community site http://www.eventcrowd.com?

    Great idea man

I like Scarlet Lemur.com, Golden Cow Media.

Have you guys noticed Green comes up all the time?

  19. Tim February 11th, 2009 3:14 pm

Is it not hypocritical to make fun of design companies with animals in their name when your own company has a flying pig for a logo?

Heh heh yeah it probably is. The Irony!

Fun at best… It’d be nice if it checked back on available domain names and registered company names, because no joke, SOME of these names that it creates could apply to some companies perfectly.

OMG - I just discovered you. So funny, and SO REFRESHING that someone else identified this trend, and is willing to poke gentle fun.

Perhaps you could do a version for generating the name of your new independent letterpress studio:

    “plant/flower” + “baked good/fruit” + “Press/Studio/Letterpress”
